FAQ

  • General Questions

    • Q:

      What is hemp oil?

A: Hemp oil is made from one of 104 chemical compounds found in hemp plants. While there are over 100, hemp oil’s main ingredient and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are the most abundant. These cannabinoids impact your body’s endocannabinoid system in a variety of ways.

    • Q:

      What does hemp oil do?

A: To be honest, hemp oil does so much that it’s almost hard to list all the ways it helps people! It can be effective in treating daily ailments including anxiety, depression, PTSD, pain, discomfort, inflammation, sleep, and more. There is also much evidence to suggest that hemp oil is helpful in mitigating symptoms associated with chronic illness, and the FDA has even approved hemp oil products for treating epilepsy.

    • Q:

      What is hemp oil?

A: Hemp oil is concentrated extract derived from plants that have high levels of hemp oil while having low levels of THC. Hemp oils allow for easy and simple consumption of healthy cannabinoids.

    • Q:

      Is hemp oil legal?

A: Yes, entirely! Across all 50 states, even. Hemp oil does not require a prescription or medical card. Because there’s virtually no THC in hemp oil, it’s not psychoactive and cannot get you high, hence its totally-legal status. In the United States, all hemp products are considered food-based, and are even legal in most countries globally so long as the amount of THC is untraceable!

    • Q:

What's the difference between CBD oil and hemp oil?

A: The difference between CBD oil and hemp oil lies in which part of the cannabis plant it is extracted from. CBD oil contains the active ingredient cannabidiol, which is extracted from plant matter and typically combined with a base oil like olive, coconut, or MCT. Hemp oil, which may also be called hemp seed oil, is extracted from hemp plant seeds. It doesn’t contain cannabinoids at all, but has antioxidants that may have their own benefits. cannajoy’s products are made with CBD oil, because we know that those cannabinoids are great for you!

    • Q:

What’s the physical difference between hemp and marijuana?

A: This is a great question! They can be thought of as members of a “family” of plants. They’re the same genus and species, but different strains. Hemp always comes from sativa strains, while marijuana can refer to sativa, indica, or rederalis. Throughout history, the two were bred differently, with industrial hemp being selectively grown for its fibrous, strong stalks that are great for making materials. Food, fiber, ropes, paper, bricks, and even natural plastics can be created with hemp. Generally speaking, these hemp plants come with very few flowering buds. Marijuana, however, is grown to be short, bushy, and full of flowering buds – hence why marijuana is often referred to as “flower.” However, with the growth of the hemp oil industry, we’ve begun breeding hemp that has more flowers! These flowers contain no THC, as they’re not from marijuana-strain plants, but do have higher amounts of cannabinoids (like hemp oil) and terpenes (other good stuff).

    • Q:

What’s the chemical difference between hemp and marijuana?

A: Hemp and marijuana vary most with respect to THC content. Marijuana has a very high amount of THC, and low amounts of hemp oil. Hemp is very high in hemp oil in most instances, but has barely traceable amounts of THC. Hemp, therefore, is the ideal plant for giving people the benefits of these plants without the “high.”

    • Q:

What’s the legal jargon for hemp?

A: We thought you’d never ask! In the USA the legal definition of “industrial hemp,” per Section 7606 of the Agricultural Appropriations Act of 2014, is “INDUSTRIAL HEMP — The term ‘‘industrial hemp’’ means the plant C. sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”

    • Q:

How does hemp oil work with your body?

A: Within your body is the endocannabinoid system, which produces its own cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids. Plants also produce their own cannabinoids, called phytocannabinoids. Taking hemp oil boosts your system’s amount of available cannabinoids, supplementing your body when it's low on its own stores. Multiple studies have shown that the endocannabinoid system is everywhere in our bodies, including the heart, liver, pancreas, skin, and reproductive tract. By adding extra cannabinoids to your body, it’s more capable of keeping everything functioning as smoothly as possible!

    • Q:

Could you tell me more about the endocannabinoid system?

A: Of course! The endocannabinoid system affects neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that nerves use to communicate. Nerves run your entire body, allowing the brain to “talk” to all its different parts. When the endocannabinoid system is depleted of cannabinoids or disrupted in another way, signaling is less effective. Deficiencies within the endocannabinoid system have been associated with diabetes, hypertension, infertility, liver disease, and more.

    • Q:

Could you tell me more about hemp oil within the endocannabinoid system?

A: dy has. With extra receptors, your endocannabinoid system is now better at doing all the jobs it's responsible for. One example has to do with the so-called “bliss molecule,” known by the technical name anandamide. With hemp oil, the enzyme that breaks down anandamide, FAAH, is inhibited. That means there’s more bliss molecule floating around in your body, which helps you regulate your mood! Hemp oil affects many bodily systems in similar ways to help keep you at your best.

    • Q:

How can you take hemp oil?

A: The use of hemp oil has flourished in recent years, and it comes in just about every application method and dose now! Some of the most popular ways of consuming hemp oil are through oils, tinctures, flowers, cakes, chocolates, gummies, and even juicing fresh leaves – and these are just a few! We offer a range with hemp oil-infused oils, gummies, and roll-on gels, plus our line of pet treat products.

    • Q:

      What is full-spectrum hemp oil?

A: Full-spectrum hemp oil refers to hemp oil product that does not undergo unnecessary processing. Some hemp oil products are refined down to singular compounds, known as pure concentrates. However, the terpenes and flavonoids found naturally in hemp are just as helpful as hemp oil! Our full-spectrum hemp oil provides ingredients that work together in synchrony for feel-good effects.

    • Q:

Why doesn’t hemp oil get me high?

A: THC binds tightly to receptors in the brain, nervous system, and body, called CB1 and CB2. Hemp oil does not bind to these receptors, and instead works indirectly to perform its therapeutic benefits. Due to hemp oil’s lack of psychoactive properties, it’s a great option for receiving the benefits of plants without affecting mental awareness.

  • Product Questions

    • Q:

How do you manufacture your hemp Oil?

A: Our hemp oil is the basis for all of our incredible products. It begins in Kentucky, where our hemp plants are grown and harvested organically. We never use pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers, and all of our plants are non-GMO. From there, our hemp oil goes from our USDA-certified organic farm to a state-of-the-art facility, where we use CO2 gas as our extraction solvent. This avoids the use of any chemical solvents. Each batch of our all-natural hemp oil is tested by a third party laboratory to ensure safe and legal consumption. Then, your products are put in sustainably-sourced packaging and sent to you!

    • Q:

Where can I see third party lab reports?

    • Q:

Do I need to consult a doctor before taking hemp oil products?

A: Hemp oil is widely accepted as a safe and natural product to consume in all forms. If you experience any adverse reactions, contact a doctor as soon as possible. Additionally, contact a physician if you are pregnant, lactating, taking any medications (over-the-counter or prescription), or have a medical condition that you believe may interfere.

    • Q:

Will I fail a drug test if I take hemp oil products?

A: The short answer is, probably not. Our hemp oil contains only legal cannabinoids at high concentrations. However, THC (the psychoactive molecule that could result in drug screen failure) is found in very, very trace amounts. With incredibly accurate drug screening tests, it is unlikely but possible that THC COULD show up on a drug screen – though they vary in sensitivity quite a bit. Our products are far under the legal THC limit, with only 0.02% THC when the max is 0.3%. If you have to take a drug test, you may find it best to avoid hemp oil products, or contact the test administrator for more information on your unique situation.

    • Q:

What is the best method of use?

A: Which products provide the best hemp oil supplementation varies from person to person. Our dietary supplements are meant to be consumed internally only, and our gel is meant only for external use. It may take time to find the right application style and dosage that works for you.

    • Q:

How long do hemp oil products last?

A: When properly stored, hemp oil has around a 1-2 year shelf life.

    • Q:

How do I store my oil products?

A: Store your hemp oil products in a cool, dark area, never allowing them to sit in direct sunlight. Always make sure to close any of our products tightly and securely.

    • Q:

How do I take my oil products?

A: Oils are to be taken sublingually and held under your tongue for 60-90 seconds before being swallowed. They may also be mixed into other foods or drinks, however keep in mind that they may be most effective on their own.

    • Q:

Can I mix my oil with food?

A: For some, the taste of hemp isn’t their favorite. If you’re finding that your oil supplements might be better with food, you can try mixing it into apple sauce, honey, or another sweet substance that helps mask the flavor.

    • Q:

How do I store my gel products?

A: Be sure to store your cannajoy muscle relief gel in a cool, safe place. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

    • Q:

Should I consult a doctor about your gel product?

A: It can be helpful to contact a physician if you have sensitive skin or experience any prolonged irritation using our products. If serious irritation lasts beyond a week, discontinue any use.

    • Q:

Can I use other products with my gel?

A: Our hemp oil muscle rub gel should not be combined with any other ointments, creams, sprays, or lotions. This is solely because we’re never sure what ingredients from other products could cause an unwanted interaction with ours! Before applying any other products on your body, make sure to thoroughly wash your hands with cool water to rinse away any remaining gel.

    • Q:

Can I apply a bandage over the gel?

A: We recommend never applying a bandage or other form of covering over the portion of skin that gel was applied to. Bandages can trap the gel and exacerbate adverse reactions.

    • Q:

How do I store my gummy products?

A: Make sure to close your container completely after use, and store your hemp oil gummies in a cool, dark place. This will ensure your gummy products last for as long as possible, and never melt together!

    • Q:

How much hemp oil is in one gummy?

A: There are 5 milligrams of hemp oil in each of our daily gummies.

    • Q:

What flavors are in your gummies?

A: Our hemp oil gummy bottle comes in a variety of fruit flavors which include strawberry, orange, and pineapple.

    • Q:

      What makes your gummies vegan?

A: All gummies, vegan or otherwise, require a gelling agent to give them that signature gummy-feel. Gelatin used to be most common, but it’s derived from animals. We use citrus pectin derived from citrus fruits instead, making our gummies vegan.

    • Q:

Can my pets get high from hemp oil treats?

A: Much like our products won’t get you high, they also won’t induce psychoactive effects on your pets either!

    • Q:

Can my pet overdose on hemp oil treats?

A: No. Pets cannot overdose on hemp oil treats. However, a dose that is too high may result in diarrhea and excess sleepiness. Start with the smallest dose possible and increase it as necessary until your pet is experiencing the desired effects.

    • Q:

How much hemp oil is in each pet treat?

A: Our hemp oil pet line is dosed by the bottle, with 100 mg per full container of pet treats. Dog treats have approximately 3-4 mg of hemp oil each, while our cat treats are smaller and therefore contain less hemp oil per treat.
